CONNECTING. One afternoon, two worlds, one goal.

A breath of loft-like atmosphere swept through the tall, unplastered brick walls of the old factory building at THE GUEST – fine events on the first weekend of March, when I hosted the vernissage CONNECTING 2026 on International Women's Day. Where machines once roared, there was now a crackling atmosphere of art, elegance, and the desire to do good together.

When California meets Mallorca

Under the main theme CONNECTING, my exhibition presented a curated series that intertwined two of the world's most fascinating places of longing: the raw, golden light of California and the Mediterranean soul of Mallorca. Over 120 guests were impressed by the connecting aesthetics of the large-format works. This was due to the close collaboration with my wife Elena, who co-organized the vernissage with a curatorial eye and was primarily responsible for its planning and execution.

An afternoon full of rhythm and aesthetics

A live saxophonist provided the perfect soundscape, his jazz melodies echoing through the vast factory hall. The mix of casual sound and striking architecture underscored the exclusivity of the afternoon.

Another highlight was set by the premium sponsoring partner: Lamborghini Hannover perfectly corresponded with the demand for design and perfection. The presentation of two iconic vehicles, the Lamborghini Temerario and the Lamborghini Urus, underscored this standard, which was also reflected in each of the exhibited works. The symbiosis of automotive excellence and fine art photography gave my event an incomparable flair.

High tension at the charity auction

The emotional highlight of the afternoon was the auction of a selected unique piece. The photograph "Swimming Donut" dates from 2023, taken near Artà in Mallorca – framed in a black shadow gap, which visually puts the picture in a floating state. The "Basel" frame made of black wood, at 6mm, is a narrower version of the classic shadow gap frame and stylishly complements the work with dimensions of 120x120 cm.

Right next to it is an inviting pool, its calm water glistening in the sun. In the pool floats a colorful swimming ring – a playful element in this peaceful scenery. The combination of exotic palm, sparkling pool, and swimming ring conveys a feeling of relaxation and vacation joy. The picture is a perfect representation of the relaxed lifestyle on this beautiful Spanish island.

As a photographer, I felt visibly moved at the end of my event: To see how the shared vision takes shape in this special location, supported by strong partners like Lamborghini Hannover, and meets with so much enthusiasm makes me incredibly proud.

Thanks to your commitment, an important statement for a good cause could be made. CONNECTING was more than just an exhibition for me – it was an afternoon of encounter that proved that art not only adorns walls but also builds bridges.
